Abstract

Within the current educational framework, Percorsi per le Competenze Trasversali e per l’Orientamento [Pathways for Cross-disciplinary Competences and Orientation], or PCTOs, are designed as self-orientation tools to support learners through the transition from school to university, and to combat early school leaving. Thanks to the flexibility of these experiences and the involvement of various professionals working in synergy, PCTOs encourage active student participation in listening didactics and the transposition of musical knowledge. This approach qualifies them as targeted and innovative interventions for music and musicology disciplines. The article examines teaching strategies and methodologies that can be used to enhance musicological research and the writing of concert programmes within these self-directed settings. The aim is to promote critical thinking and awareness in the appreciation of cultural heritage, educate the musical public and potentially create new professional roles.
