Abstract

Those who write and think about music are daily confronted with a thorny problem: how to describe, comment on it, or critically interpret it? The issue of musical verbalization, or the “translation” of music into words, cuts across aethstetics, critical theory, philosophy of music, and analysis methods. In this particular Focus it is addressed from an educational-didactic perspective by historians of music, literature and of the Italian language.
